THE BEACH

Now, I have never been to the beach but I can always picture it perfectly in my mind as a vast area with lots of sun, quiet except for the birds and sea creatures. No people around for miles, but dazzling sand -littered with seashells from different sea creatures, hungry seagulls beating their wings and screeching as they scavenge for dinner- shining in the golden sunlight, and the majestic blue sea pulling in waves and the cool breeze blowing at arousing temperatures.

I imagine flying a kite, made from different materials and patterned in an odd but colorful and attractive way- high in the sky. The vast open space and lovely breeze helping pull her higher as she soars over high above, assuming the form of a rare type of bird in the sky showing off her patterns.

Ivy, my name for the delta kite- my pride and joy and a type of kite- soaring high in the sky, pulling me towards the rocky areas getting hit by waves from the sea. I could jump off the rocks into the cool deep blue sea water. I couldn’t really picture sharks, if I did, they would probably turn out to be ninja sharks in ski masks as if in a cartoon. How cool would that be?

I imagine getting lost in the leftovers of children sand castles, admiring the creativity and craftsmanship. It is a beautiful sight, almost hypnotic to dwell on. The inescapable smell of the humid sea air hanging all around as the breeze picks up sending more of it up my nostrils, the wonderful gritty feeling of the powdery sand between my toes, the sensation of the cool waves crashing against my ankles as I stand on the shore, looking out far into the ocean, the seemingly infinite blue sky, dazzling sunlight, Ivy doing a lap soaring high without a care in the world; to go with the cool breeze adding a touch of ecstasy. All of it feels so right.

I can fully picture a life somewhere on a beach living on sea creatures and high on nature’s beauty. I imagine a place of peaceful serenity, a literal heaven on earth. What more could a dying man ask for?

My final moments at the beach as I imagine it would be watching the sunset slowly as if sinking into the sea, watching the sky turn from blue to orange and finally, red, as it fully offers itself the vast blue sea as if for the millionth time only to rise again in twelve hours.

With the sky turned red, feeling death’s cold embrace, I imagine the sea blowing over the shore in waves, kicking every sand castle as if in a rage and a petty attempt at revenge before settling down to show off the pale winter white moon of December, rising in her glowing silvery gown wearing an ethereal glow.

Yes! Such peaceful serenity…

It’s like the world ending over and over, a new opportunity. A new beginning, happy endings
